Trauma support

In the aftermath of a major incident many people may be affected psychologically.
This may include:
  • Survivors of the incident
  • Relatives and friends of survivors
  • Relatives and friends of those who die as a result of the incident
  • Emergency Response personnel
People react to Trauma in different ways, and while some recover quickly, others may need ongoing supoprt for months or years after the event.

The Council provides a range of social and psychological support services in the aftermath of a major incident in the form of a Humanitarian Assistance Centre. This will be established in a convenient location which is easily accessible to the public, where those affected can seek information, guidance and counselling.
