Trading Standards enforcement policy
Trading Standards carries out a wide range of regulatory
roles in meeting its many statutory duties of protecting the
public, consumers, businesses and the environment.
These duties are mainly met by carrying out business inspections,
responding to complaints, issuing licenses and offering advice.
This
policy outlines the approach we take when considering
enforcement action and is to ensure that we deal with everyone in a
fair and consistent way.
Businesses
Our role in business advice is to enable local businesses
to comply with current trading and commercial law and to maintain
consistent enforcement throughout the region, and to provide a
national single point of contact for all
'home authority* (open new window)'
businesses.
