Dog fouling is an increasing problem in Telford and
Wrekin. It is messy, anti social, and can even lead to
blindness.
Dog fouling is unacceptable. It is every owner and walker's
duty to clear up after their
dog. | |
 |
At Telford and Wrekin Council we are committed to
clamping down on dog mess.
Failing to clear up after your dog is irresponsible and highly
dangerous as it can lead to blindness through an infection called
Toxocara Canis.
It is now illegal to allow your dog, or any dog you are in charge
of, to foul in a public place.
Under the The Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996 it is your
responsibility to clean up after a dog you are walking, whether a
bin is available to deposit the waste in or not.
Anyone who fails to clean up can face a £50 on the spot fine and
costs of up to £1000 if the case goes to court.
Responsible dog owners and walkers can use a
bag or a poop
scoop to remove dog's mess and dispose of it safely. We provide
poop scoop bags free of charge at a
number of
outlets across the borough.
Every time you walk a dog, remember to take a poop scoop bag like
you would remember a lead. It is every dog owner's responsibility
to 'bag it and bin it'.
Report dog owners who don't clean up after their dog.
Tell us if you know of a dog owner that
regularly fails to clean up after their pet. You can also contact
