Here you can find out how the council works, how we make decisions and how you can get involved and influence those decisions. These pages will help you to find information on a range of topics - click on the links below to find out more.

Scrutiny

Legislation, implemented in May 2002, requires every council to have a scrutiny process in place. Each council has developed its own kind of scrutiny service but all scrutiny services involve a committee or a number of committees made up of councillors.

Elections and voting

Borough council elections are held every four years and to be able to vote in any election your name needs to be on the current register of electors.

Council constitution

The constitution is the council's internal rule book. It sets out how the council will operate and how decisions are made. Please click on the link above or the useful information link on the right hand side of this page to access further details about the constitution.
