Boundary Reviews

The Electoral Services Section deals - on the Borough Council's behalf - with reviews of parish areas and electoral arrangements, and it acts as a consultee in other boundary reviews that affect the borough. We also deal with reviews of polling districts and polling places that define where you vote.
Parliamentary Constituency Boundaries

The latest review of the Parliamentary Constituencies was completed in June 2007 and is included in the Parliamentary Constituencies (England) Order 2007 (Statutory Instrument 2007 No.1681).

This Order will not affect any parliamentary election until the next General Election. The Borough will continue to comprise of two parliamentary constituencies: Telford and The Wrekin. However, there have been adjustments in the constituency boundaries as follows:

Reviews of Parliamentary Constituencies are the responsibility of The Boundary Commission for England.

Borough Ward and Parish/Parish Ward Boundaries

The last review of the Borough Wards and the Parishes and their Electoral Arrangements took effect on 1st May 2003 and the changes are included in The Borough of Telford and Wrekin (Electoral Changes) Order 2002 (Statutory Instrument 2002 No.2373).

This Order provided for the current structure of 33 wards electing 54 councillors in the Borough. It laid down the boundaries of the 33 wards. In addition, the Order provided for the current structure of 28 parishes, with 53 parish wards electing a total of 284 parish councillors. Likewise, it laid down the boundaries of the parishes and parish wards.

Reviews of Borough Wards and their Electoral Arrangements are the responsibility of the Boundary Committee for England, a committee of the Electoral Commission.

The responsibility for reviews of Parishes and their Electoral Arrangements is being transferred to the Borough Council under sections 75-102 of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007. It is anticipated that the transfer of these powers will be in place by April 2008, and the Council will be issuing guidance on its new role.
