New Cabinet post proposed |
|
Councillors will be asked to
approve a new cabinet post to oversee Telford & Wrekin
Council's borough-wide regeneration plans at a meeting next
week. | |
|
It is proposed that Councillor
Eric Carter be appointed Cabinet member for Regeneration at next
Thursday's meeting of Full Council.
This new role would particularly focus on major regeneration issues
taking place across Telford and Wrekin, including the Borough Towns
Initiative and Telford Town Centre's regeneration. If approved,
Councillor Stephen Bentley would remain as Cabinet member for the
Environment.
Council leader Andrew Eade said: "With so many far-reaching
projects being consulted on and launching across the borough and
increased workload in this area, we felt now was the right time to
appoint a new Cabinet member with sole responsibility for
regeneration.
"Councillor Carter will devote time and energy to drive these
schemes forward and ensure that every major regeneration decision
we make is the right one for Telford and Wrekin's residents and the
future development and direction of the borough.
"Even after creating this new post, we still have a slimmed-down
Cabinet with just seven posts."
Councillor Stephen Burrell has been appointed Cabinet member for
Children and Young People, taking over from Councillor Ian Fletcher
who will be taking up a position on the Council's Plans
Board. | |
