Celebrating Independence Day for India, Jamaica and Pakistan

A day of celebration will be held on 9 August at New College Wellington from 2 - 5pm to mark Independence Day for India, Jamaica and Pakistan.

This free family event will feature a host of exciting events including an Asian clothes stall, food stall and steel band entertainment.

Music will also be provided by DJ Sanjx, Dance Floor and Dhol Players and visitors will have the chance to try balloon modeling and arts and crafts.

Cllr Denis Allen, Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: "I hope this day of celebration will bring together communities from across Telford and Wrekin and provide a host of entertainment at the same time.

"I shall be attending and I would encourage everyone to come along to this celebration, which is free and promises to offer entertainment for all the family."

A host of organizations are expected to offer advice and information at the event with a number of stands which will include; The Citizens Advice Bureau, West Mercia Police, Wrekin Housing Trust, Employment Link and Direct Payments. There'll also be stands featuring Health Information and Health Checks, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Substance Misuse and Pyschology for Learning Disability Services. and Hate Crime.
