Telford & Wrekin Council welcome longer daylight hours as the clocks go forward this weekend.

With the nation awaiting the arrival of British summertime on March 30, the Council are encouraging residents to call on and enjoy a visit to any of the Borough's five formal parks.

As nature emerges in many guises, Telford and Wrekin's parks are seeing the early signs of the warmer weather, with spring flowers carpeting grass verges and blossom decorating tree branches.

Bowring, Dale End, Dawley, Hartshill and Telford Town Parks all offer breathtaking and valuable open spaces with recreational and play areas for visitors to enjoy.

Telford Town Park features the famous Stirchley Chimney nestled amongst the 62 hectare local nature reserve, as well as the popular children's adventure trail and Wonderland. The Gallery Café provides light refreshments for hungry appetites.

Councillor Denis Allen said: "Being outdoors allows us to escape our daily worries, enjoy fresh air, have quality time with our family and friends and enjoy the benefits of spring which are free to us all but are also priceless to those who appreciate the forces of nature."

"Telford & Wrekin has a wealth of open space, with 95 hectares of green parkland which is equivalent to 16 full sized football pitches."

"The parks also provide an invaluable home to wildlife providing it with considerable sources of food and shelter."
