The Council is committed to investing in the borough's
parks and is excited to announce a list of drop-in sessions for you
to have your say on what you would like for four of our local parks
- Donnington Recreation Ground, Hartshill Park, Bowring Park and
Dale End Park.
The Council has allocated £500,000 a year for investment in
parks, including the Town Park, which will enhance and safeguard
these open spaces for residents and visitors to Telford and
Wrekin.
As part of this commitment, the Council has appointed Halcrow
Consultancy to devise Management Plans for Donnington Recreation
Ground, Hartshill Park, Bowring Park and Dale End Park.
Stage 1 of the Management Plan is to gather as much information
about the parks as possible. This will be done by examining
existing documentation, looking into historical information and
meeting with people to gather their views and understand usage of
the parks.
During Stage 2 the consultants use all this information to produce
a draft plan and then further consultation is undertaken on this
draft plan during Stage 3.
The drop-in sessions to gather public views are planned for:
Dale End Park 28 July 2008 7.30pm - 9.30pm
(Greenwood Centre)
Bowring 29 July 2008 2pm - 4.30pm
(Wellington Civic Centre)
Donnington Recreation Ground 6 August 2008 7.30pm - 9.30pm
(Turreff Hall)
Hartshill Park 7 August 2008 2pm - 4.30pm
(The Place, Oakengates)
Councillor Denis Allen, Cabinet Member for Community Services,
said: "I would urge anyone with an interest in any one of these
parks to come along to the drop-in sessions and have their say.
"This is your opportunity to shape the future of the borough's
parks.
"The Council has appointed a consultancy to carry out the
Management Plans because this is most cost effective way to proceed
and it means work on the ground can start as soon as possible. This
in turn, will help the administration deliver its ambitious plans
to improve green spaces across the borough.
"A consultancy like Halcrow brings a team of people with specialist
knowledge to the project that have in-depth knowledge and the
latest thinking on park
management." |
