Child and family care

Looked after children celebrate their achievements with a member of the corporate parenting team at their annual awards ceremony
Telford & Wrekin Council and its partners work with children in need and their families in the areas of family support, child protection, disabled children, children in care (children who need to live away from home) and care leavers (children who have left or are leaving care).

The service carries out its legal responsibilities through the assessment of need (as described in the Children Act 1989) and providing services to meet these needs. This includes support to parents, children, young carers, families with relationship difficulties, disability issues or child protection concerns. It also includes services such as foster care, adoption or residential care.
