Building Schools for the Future
Education in Telford & Wrekin is set to undergo its biggest
transformation in decades within the Building Schools for the
Future programme.
Our vision is to raise achievement, aspirations and
self-esteem by creating a vibrant and creative learning
community.
Building Schools for the Future will help us to achieve this by
enabling us to rebuild, remodel or refurbish our secondary schools
and through the creation of learning communities.
Hadley Learning Community & Jigsaw
Project
The Hadley Learning Community has been constructed
as part of the Borough's first Private Finance Initiative (PFI)
programme and is an exciting new development designed to provide
top quality education with purpose built areas for 21st Century
learning including a new 1200 place secondary school, the relocated
Bridge Special School and a new 420 place primary school. Community
facilities include a creche, nursery and childcare support, health
services for young children, a learning resource centre, 150 seat
theatre, cafe, swimming pool, fitness gym and sports pitches.
The Jigsaw Project, also part of the PFI programme, provides for a
group of vulnerable young people who currently reside and are
educated outside the Borough. To cater for up to 30 young people,
Jigsaw is intended to become a beacon for integrated education,
social and health care in the borough and across the region.

Other Capital Projects in the
Borough
The Chidren & Young people portfolio has a large
capital programme which covers the full spectrum of children's
services ranging from schools to residential homes. In this section
you can learn about other capital projects that are outside of the
Private Finance Initiative and Building Schools for the Future
programmes. | |
