Childcare Team

The Childcare Team is dedicated to supporting childcare settings of all types across the Telford & Wrekin including private, voluntary and Local Authority maintained provisions.

The team consists of the following Officers:

Senior Childcare & Quality Officer.
Manages the team. Offers support and guidance across all sectors and types of childcare provision. Is responsible for team development in line with the Ten year childcare strategy and sustainability of childcare provision.

Business and Financial Support Officer.
Supports all settings with business support. Is able to offer advice on sustainability issues, funding sources and offers a variety of training programmes to support all business needs.

Childminding Support Development Worker.
Looks after prospective and newly registered Childminders. Is responsible for the Support Childminder Scheme which links established Childminders with those new to the profession. Administers the start up grants for new childminders. Recruitment is also an important part of this role.

Childminding Sustainability Development Worker.
Works closely with childminders who have sustainability issues and administers the sustainability grant. Pre-OFSTED checks are offered to established childminders to support them through their pending inspections. Assists with the 'Childminder Plus' Scheme which links teenage parents with specially trained childminders. Assists with the briefing sessions for prospective childminders.

Childminding Network Co-ordinator.
Assesses and monitors the Childminders on the 'Telford & Wrekin Childminding Quality Assured Network'. Running a weekly drop-in and organising a toy library are also part of this role. Monitoring visits are a major part of this role which not only provides opportunities to observe childminders at work but also these give them a chance to discuss training issues and any other problems that they may have. Works very closely with Childminding Support Development Worker on the childminder briefing sessions and along with Workforce Development delivers a range of training programmes.

Breakfast Club Co-ordinator.
Ensures that the breakfast club initiative continues to develop, sustain and provide a service that is socially inclusive to all. Offer advice, practical guidance, support and signposting to Breakfast Clubs.
