Early Years Curriculum Team

The Early Years Curriculum team provide consultancy, training courses, professional development programmes and produce publications which enable practitioners to critically evaluate and develop the quality of learning experiences and opportunities for early year's children including those with additional needs.

This service has recently been enhanced by the production of a new toolkit - 'Quality in Action', which has been in a pilot phase from Sept 05-March 06 and goes live in the summer term 2006.

The Five Outcomes underpin the whole of the programme, as does support for the development of integrated childcare and education. Time has also been invested in research to ensure that the programme has sound academic foundations.

The programme will;

• Provide valuable self evaluation evidence which can inform judgements made on the SEF

• Address specific issues identified through OFSTED inspections.

• Provide a robust mechanism to critically evaluate Foundation Stage provision in nursery and reception.

• Work towards a quality Kite Mark

• Show how practitioners intend to meet the 'Five Outcomes' through their practice.

• Reflect on, evaluate and develop current practice
