Free Early Education for 3 & 4 Year Old

Every 3 and 4 year old child is entitled to 12½ hours per
week of free early education, for 38 weeks per year from the term
after their third
birthday. | |
Telford & Wrekin Council are a pathfinder
authority who are able to offer 15 hours a week, this
enables parents to take their offer more
flexibly.
This must be taken over a minimum of three days and with a maximum
of two childcare providers, any child accessing only two days may
claim a maximum of 13 hours per week.
Guidelines for when a child is eligible for their Free
Early Education Funding
A child born between:
1 April - 31 August
Is eligible at the start of the Autumn
term following their 3rd birthday until statuatory
school age (September)
1 September - 31 December Is eligible at the
start of the Spring term following their
3rd birthday until statuatory school age (January)
1 January - 31 March Is eligible at the
start of the Summer term following their
3rd birthday until statuatory school age

Parents are able to choose from:
Childcare providers from the private, voluntary, independent or
local authority sector who best meet the families requirements.
A variety of different types of providers, including full day
care, sessional care, nursery schools, school run nurseries,
nursery classes, pre-schools and childminders in a quality assured
network.
Parents are also able to choose from a variety of combinations
of hours which suit their work, training and other family
commitments.
