Appeal hearings:
You will have the right to put your case in person to the appeal panel whose decision is binding on both the Local Authority (LA) and parents. The panel consists of 3 people. None of them will work for the Council or have any connection with the school concerned.

Parents should be aware that the decision of appeal panels to allow additional admissions is extremely limited in those cases where the 30 limit of an infant class size applies.

If your child has been refused a place at a Voluntary Aided or Foundation school, the school governors are required by law to make arrangements for you to appeal against that decision to an independent appeal panel. Please contact the school direct for information on how to pursue an appeal.

Parents are only allowed 1 appeal for a place at the same school in the same academic year, unless there has been a significant change in circumstances - for example, a change of home address.

However, parents are entitled to submit appeals for more than one school.
