New provisions for secondary age pupils - from September
2008:
New provisions have been brought in by the Government for pupils
from low income families transferring to secondary school from
September 2008 onwards.
Children from low income groups are defined in the Education Act
as those who are entitled to free school meals, or whose families
are in receipt of their maximum level of Working Tax Credit. They
will be entitled to help with transport to their 3 nearest Local
Authority schools where they live more than 2 miles but not more
than 6 miles from the school.
