Education other than at school
(EOTAS) Most children receive their full-time
education in state or private schools but a small number of parents
prefer to educate their children at home. In these cases, it is our
duty to monitor the effectiveness of the education received at home
by Telford & Wrekin children and we seek to do this in a
helpful way
Pupil exclusions
A pupil can be excluded from school when there has been a serious
breach of the school's behaviour policy and when allowing the pupil
to remain in school would seriously harm the education or welfare
of the pupil or others in the school. Only the head teacher or
teacher in charge of a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) can exclude a
pupil (or the person acting on their behalf if they are
absent).
Special Educational
Needs.
Some children will experience learning difficulties at some stage
during their school career and all schools in Telford & Wrekin
provide help for children with special educational needs (SEN). The
Local Education Authority (LEA) undertakes to make a wide range of
provision available for children who have special educational needs
with a commitment to them being educated in mainstream schools
wherever possible and appropriate.
