Raise Your Voice Increase Your Choice

 

Raise Your Voice Increase Your Choice (RYVIYC) is a borough wide children's group who meet once a month. Members of the group are aged between eight and fourteen years and have been meeting together since April 2004.

The group links with officers, Members and council decision makers. It carries out pieces of its own work as well as work on behalf of the Active Involvement Working Group within the council.

Members of the group come as representatives from their local areas and many are members of local children's groups which give children active involvement and a voice within their local communities.

Some work to date includes:

· Supporting the council to develop a Charter for Children and Young People .

· Supporting the councils Scrutiny Commission for Children and Young People in their reviews on healthy eating and consultation with children and young people.

· Understanding the role of the council as a corporate parent.

· Visiting council meetings and building relationships with members

· Taking part in a national consultation on Children's Trusts run by NCB

· Hosting Borough of Telford & Wrekin Annual Awards Ceremony for Children and Young People

· Designing and delivering children's rights session at regional Participation Conference with Children's Commissioner Al Ainsley Green.
