Course intended for:
People who want to become a childminder.
The course is the beginning of the registration process for
childminders.
Description: This briefing is the first step to
becoming registered as a childminder. A certificate is issued on
completion.
The briefing session(s) consist of:
- The giving out of application packs
- An opportunity to look at the day care standards
- A work book to raise awareness of the day care standards and
support good practice
- The Ofsted Childcare Inspectors role.
- Childminder insurance
- Childminder start-up grants
- What is involved to be self-employed, and
- The Support Childminder scheme
In addition to the briefing, each prospective childminder is
required to complete the basic child protection awareness raising
training before registration is granted. In addition to this a
first aid certificate with a paediatric element must be acquired
within six months of registration.
