Course intended for:-
Practitioners in all types of settings - private, voluntary and
maintained. All staff should attend the equal opportunities core
training, but this will be particularly useful for new staff
joining the setting and volunteers, as part of induction training.
Practitioners should attend the core training before attending
higher levels of Equal opportunities training offered.
Course Type: This is introductory training for
workers in all types of settings - private, voluntary and
maintained.
Description: This session is the first part of
three sessions which focus on equal opportunities within all types
of early education and childcare settings (including childminders).
The session looks at the policies that all settings require to
underpin good equal opportunities practice. A brief look at the
legislation relating to equal opportunities will be considered and
how this impacts on the care and education provided for children in
your situation. Case studies will be used to explore strategies
that may be used to develop anti-discriminatory practice within
early years and childcare situations, with a particular focus on
gender issues.
Session 2 will focus on racial equality issues and Session 3 on
disability equality issues.
Note: Certificates will only be provided after you have
attended all three sessions.
Expected outcomes: By the end of this session participants
will be able to:-
Identify the legislation that settings must work to, in order to
comply with equal opportunities requirements
Explain the requirements of an equal opportunities policy within
a childcare/education setting
Implement an equal opportunities policy within a
childcare/education environment
Identify strategies needed to promote anti-discriminatory
practice within a childcare/education setting.
