This is a two day workshop providing basic skills in listening and
mentoring for those working with children and
parents | |
Childcare practitoners often find themselves supporting
parents/carers who may wish to talk about difficult issues -
parenting skills, children's behaviour, child protection, illness,
divorce and bereavement for example.
Course Aim: To enable participants to develop
their skills of listening and communicating in a one-to-one
situation
Course Type: Practical Workshops which will
involve skills practice
By the end of the two sessions participants will
have:
- Explored and practised the skills of active listening
- Explored some of the barriers to good communication
- Become more aware of how they communicate with others
- Develop strategies for on-going support
- Identify other organisations who may be able to help
