Road safety - driver training

All new drivers have to be taught how to drive safely and correctly, whether this is carried out by parents or by driving schools. There is a large amount of information and advice available to help you as you begin to drive as well as guidance for more experienced drivers.
First-time drivers
If you would like an information leaflet about teaching your son or daughter to drive, please contact the Road Safety Team

Pass Plus
Pass Plus is an additional course that you can take when you have passed your test. Most insurers offer a discount for anyone who has taken these lessons. For further information follow the link below.

Selecting a training organisation
Whatever level training you need, make sure that you choose someone who is
  • a qualified driving instructor
  • suitable for the type of training that you need

Ask around to find the best possible training. Don't forget that you will almnost certainly have to take a theory test. Once you've found an instructor they will be able to help you with this as well.
