Q. My neighbours are playing their stereo loudly - what
can I do about it?
and/or
Q. My neighbour's dog keeps barking - what can I do about
it? A. Contact Pollution Control on 01952
381818. In the first instance, a letter would be sent to the person
being complained about. The complainant would be asked to complete
a diary sheet listing the dates and times they were affected by the
noise, which they would be asked to return if the problem
continued.
The next stage would be for an enforcement officer to visit the
person making the noise, and the noise would be monitored. If the
problem was not resolved informally and the noise was causing a
nuisance, more formal action would be considered.
Q. I am affected by the noise from the pub/factory down the road -
what can I do about it? A. Contact Pollution
Control on 01952 381818. The complaint would be passed to one of
the Environmental Health Officers who would informally approach the
owner/occupier of the premises where the noise was coming
from.
If this did not resolve the complaint and the noise was causing a
nuisance, we would then carry out a detailed investigation and as a
last resort would consider more formal action.
Q. My drain is blocked - what can I do about
it? A. A blocked drain serving only one
property is the responsibility of the owner/occupier of the
property. If more than one property is affected, contact Pollution

the garden - what can I do about it? A.
Contact Pollution Control on 01952 381818. The complaint would be
passed to an enforcement officer who would informally approach the
person being complained about.
If the problem was not solved informally and there was a nuisance,
more formal action would be considered. However, if the rubbish is
an eyesore but is not causing a smell or a health hazard, it can be
difficult to take action.

is to talk to their neighbours before having a bonfire.

reportable accidents/occurrences.

Q. I think I've got food poisoning from my local takeaway - what
can I do about it? A. Go to your GP
immediately and tell him that you think you may have food
poisoning. The GP would normally ask you to provide a sample to
find out if you have got food poisoning and if so, which particular
type. Officers would carry out an investigation to try to identify
the source of your
illness.
