Firework safety
Fireworks are a traditional part of enjoying celebrations such as
Bonfire Night, Diwhali or New Year but they are the cause of many
hundreds of serious accidents every year - it should be remembered
that they are dangerous

By far, the largest number of accidents occur in home
organised displays. Children cannot usually be kept far enough away
from displays and adults are not usually aware of the risks
involved. The safest way to enjoy them is to go to a professionally
organised event.
The use of fireworks is increasing and some are now available
throughout the year. The noise from such displays is now becoming a
problem; neighbours can be subjected to excessive noise over long
periods. Remember also pets; they are especially susceptible to the
loud bangs associated with fireworks. Guidance is available by
