Targets for dealing with enquiries
Food complaints:
  • Extraneous (foreign object) matter within, 3 working days.
  • Extraneous (foreign object) matter likely to cause injury, within 1 working day.
  • Unfitness or sabotage, within 4 hours.
  • Complaints regarding food premises:
    • Conditions likely to cause illness, within 1 working day.
    • Conditions not likely to cause illness, within 3 working days.
    • Complainant to be informed of action taken within 5 working days.

Health and safety complaints:

  • Conditions likely to cause injury, within 1 working day.
  • Conditions not likely to cause injury, within 1 working day.
  • Complainant to be informed of action taken within 5 working days.

Notification of serious injuries:

  • Death or serious injury, immediately.
  • F2509 notification within 5 working days.

Infectious disease:

  • Confirmed cases of Salmonella, Clostridium, Listeria, Giardia, Hepatitis 'A', within 3 working days.
  • Suspected food poisoning or confirmed E:coli, by the end of the next working day.
  • Cases that may be linked to an outbreak or a hospital notification, immediately.

Pollution:

  • Complaints regarding noise or pollution to be responded to within 5 working days.
  • Complaints regarding defective drainage and public health matters to be responded to within 5 working days.

We aim to answer all letters within 10 working days.
