Scores on the doors - Star rating calculation

The results are used to produce a star rating system ranging from 5 stars for excellent businesses to 0 stars for very poor.

The overall risk rating score will only be given following a primary inspection and not after any re-visits. Re-visits to amend the star rating will not be made, even if improvement works have been carried out.

The star rating given to premises will not be altered until the next primary inspection, which, could be between 6 months to 2 years later.

The star rating can be withdrawn if standards deteriorate. Therefore the premises and food safety practices must be kept up to standard all the time to maintain the star rating.

Premises will be awarded a certificate showing their star rating which they may display for customers to see.
