Inspectors Report
The Inspectors have now issued their binding report on the LDF
Core Strategy. The examination has now been formally closed and the
Inspectors have found the Core Strategy to be sound. Whilst the
document can now be adopted with the key elements remaining
unchanged, the Inspectors have reduced the proposed plan period by
five years to 2006 - 2016. The strategy which sets out Telford and
Wrekin's future development until 2016 will be considered for
adoption at the next full Council meeting on 29th November 2007. If
adopted at the end of the month, the policies in the Core Strategy
will form part of the Borough's Development Plan as the first new
document in the Local Development Framework and will be used to
determine the outcome of planning applications across Telford and
Wrekin.

Core Strategy
Examination
The hearing sessions for the Core Strategy DPD
examination ended on 20 June 2007. The Inspectors appointed to
conduct the Examinations, Susan Holland MA DipTP MRTPI , assisted
by Elizabeth Hill BSc (Hons) BPhil MRTPI, are expected to produce
their report by November 2007. The report will be binding on
Telford & Wrekin Council.
Following the Core Strategy Hearing session on May 24th
2007, the Inspectors produced an
Early Indication Statement on the CS16 Waste
& CS17 Minerals Policies on 21 June 2007. Please see
below for more information relating to this statement.
Waste Policies and Proposals Examination
This examination has been suspended.
Following the Core Strategy Hearing session on May 24th
2007, the Inspectors issued an
Early Indication Statement on the CS16 Waste
& CS17 Minerals Policies , which concluded that these
policies should be deleted from the Core Strategy.
In the light of the Inspectors' conclusions on these Core Strategy
policies, the Council's officers felt that it would be
inappropriate to proceed with the examination of the Waste DPD.
They therefore requested, and the Inspectors agreed, that the
examination of this document should be suspended.
The Council will contact respondents in due course about the future
of the Waste DPD.
