services.
- Indicates how a balance will be struck between development and
the conservation of the countryside, wildlife and important open
space.
- Provides the basis for detailed local planning and coordination
of services.
- Shows how national and regional policy will be made to work in
the area.
The Strategy
Continued growth within a sustainable framework is seen as the
way forward for Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Council. The
main themes are to:
- Conserve resources and the environment by reducing reliance on
car travel and length of journey, fostering bio-diversity and the
conservation of natural resources.
- Improve the quality of life by: protecting and improving the
natural and cultural assets of the area; improve employment
prospects; and tackle levels of deprivation.
- Achieve a sustainable environment by careful location of
development; improve access and maximize use of previously used
land and existing infrastructure.
- Foster a prosperous economy, support for the rural economy and
encourage inward investment.
