Local Development Framework - Annual Monitoring

Purchase Act 2004 requires local planning authorities to monitor
matters that may affect the planning and development of their
areas. | |

Planning Authorities are
required to keep under review the following
matters:
- the principal physical, economic,
social and environmental characteristics of their area;
- the principal purposes for which
land is used in the area;
- the size, composition and
distribution of the population of the area;
- the communications, transport system
and traffic of the area (including accessibility by transport);
and
- any other considerations which may
be expected to affect those matters.
The
council is required to produce an Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) to
assess the effectiveness of policy in the Local Development
Framework.
The AMR sets out how the council propose to do this. It shows
whether the progress towards targets and milestones in the Local
Development Framework are being met. Subsequent AMRs will report on
the impact of policy against policy indicators and their targets.
If policies are not working as intended, or are not achieving
sustainable objectives the AMR will include suggested
actions.
