Borough of Telford & Wrekin

Local development scheme (LDS)

Details of the contents and timetable for preparation of the council's Development Plan Documents are provided in the Local Development Scheme (LDS).
This identifies the key milestones in plan preparation and opportunities for community engagement. It replaces the council's previous LDS of August 2007. The revised LDS took effect, following Secretary of State and Cabinet approval, on 13th Oct 2009. It covers the three year period June 2009 - May 2012.

This document and the programme it sets will be kept under review in the Annual Monitoring Report each December.

Please note, as set out in the 2009 LDS, the examination of the Central Telford Area Action Plan (CTAAP) by a government-appointed Inspector began in September 2009. A six month suspension of the examination however, was agreed by the Inspector and by the Planning Inspectorate in mid November 2009 to allow further work to be undertaken by the Council. The Council resources requirements to undertake this work and consult on proposed changes to CTAAP will impact on timescales set out in the LDS. The Council therefore proposes to undertake a further review of the LDS as soon as the impact of the Central Telford Area Action Plan examination suspension wider LDF programmes can be fully assessed.
