(LDF) Strategic Housing Land Availability
Assessment |
| The aim of the Strategic Housing Land Availability
Assessment (SHLAA) is to identify sites with housing potential,
make as assessment of deliverability, and of how many dwellings
could come forward and when. This will assist the Council in
identifying the capacity of Telford and Wrekin to accommodate new
housing development over the next 15 years, in accordance with the
requirements of National Planning Policy Statement 3
(PPS3). | |
The methodology for the study that established the SHLAA
followed the 'Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessments
Practice Guidance' published by the Department for Communities and
Local Government (DCLG) in July 2007. There are ten stages to the
SHLAA methodology, as set out in the Practice Guidance Figure
3.

The site assessment has also taken account of "Land Supply
Assessment Checks" published by the Department for Communities and
Local Government in May 2009.
This is the first update of the SHLAA, and presents an assessment
as at 1 April 2009. The process is dynamic and the assessment will
be subject to ongoing monitoring and adjustment as sites are
brought forward for development, or updating results in assessment
changes. The first report is also available on the
LDF - Background Information page.

A standard pro-forma is available on which to provide
new information and sites.
The SHLAA provides a site by site evidence base to inform, in
particular, the Land Allocations Development Plan Document.
