Who's who in Development & Design

The Development & Design Unit is based within the Environment & Regeneration portfolio and is headed by the Business Unit Manager.

Development & Design is comprised of:

1. Administration & Technical Support
The administration & Technical Support team is responsible for checking and registering planning applications as well as dealing with public enquiries.

2. Planning Control
The Development Control section is made of up two teams:

East Team & West Team.

Each Team is made up of officers responsible for planning applications in specific areas of the Borough, each with a nominated officer who deals with major developments.

3. Enforcement
The Enforcement team is responsible for investigating breaches of planning control, advertisement control, high hedges, monitoring of planning conditions and taking any necessary enforcement action.

The Team comprises two Enforcement officers:

Enforcement Officer - East Team
Enforcement Officer - West Team

4. Urban Form & Conservation
The Urban Form & Conservation team provides the proactive planning input into the major strategic sites being promoted with English Partnerships, as well as offering pre-application design advice on other major developments. It also produces design guidance. The team also deals with conservation issues, offering advice on works to listed buildings and buildings within Conservation Areas. The team involves 7 individuals:
