Recycling and rubbish collections

Information on the recycling and rubbish collections in the borough.
Green bin and red box day
Since March 2006 all areas of the borough now have an alternating collection of rubbish one week and recyclable materials & green waste the next. The recycling service has also been introduced to some flats within the borough with further developments taking place all the time.

We also run a bulky waste collection service and collect and dispose of large household items for you. There is a charge for this service.

Please note: The council is also now piloting a new scheme in connection with its work to promote the need to reuse items which are in good condition and should be found a new home instead of being thrown away.

This means that if you contact us to request a replacement or additional bin or box, you may receive a reclaimed bin or box which has been used elsewhere in the borough.

If this is the case we will only reuse bins which are clean and in good condition.
