Borough of Telford & Wrekin

Rubbish collections

Information on rubbish collections within the borough.
We operate an alternating collection scheme, one week your rubbish is collected and the next week your recyclables are collected.

Your rubbish is collected in the grey wheelie bin. We do not accept bins with open lids or extra rubbish in bags at the side of the bin and by using the kerbside recycling scheme you can greatly reduce the amount of rubbish you need to put in the grey bin.

You can use the green wheelie bin to hold your garden waste which will be sent for composting.

Your recycling kerbside box can be used for:

  • Glass bottles and jars, any colour
  • Cardboard
  • Leather shoes
  • Clothing and fabric, clean please
  • Food cans, washed out please but labels can be left on
  • Drinks cans and aluminium foil
  • Empty aerosols
  • Newspapers and magazines
  • Junk mail

Please note that the council has a number of response times which it must meet in terms of bin collections.

  • If a bin or box is missed and reported by the customer before 12 noon, contractors TWS have until the end of the day to return and empty it.
  • If a bin or box is missed and reported by the customer after 12 noon then TWS have until 12 noon the following day to empty it.
  • If a customer lets us know they forgot to put their bin or box out for collection or put it out after the crew had been in their street, TWS have until the end of the next day to empty it.
