Did you know? You can now place your shredded
paper into your kerbside box!
Here are some tips to help you use this simple
service.

We know many of you are becoming increasingly concerned
about identity fraud and prefer to shred your letters/documents
before you recycle them.
We have been in talks with our contractors TWS and have now been
able to introduce shredded paper to the kerbside recycling
collection.
This is great news and we hope it will help to make your recycling
even easier.
However, when you put shredded paper in your kerbside box, it is
important it doesn't blow around the streets of Telford and Wrekin
so we ask that it is placed in an old envelope or paper bag and
sealed up in some way.
- Why not use an old envelope? But make sure you obscure
your name and address on the front.
- Try saving paper bags and gift bags you recieve in shops or
with presents. These make ideal containers for your shredded
paper.
- You can even fold your shredded paper up inside old newspapers
- another great way to recycle - but again please make sure this is
sealed in some way.
- Think before you shred! You may find you don't really need to
shred the whole document. Try obscuring the important details with
a marker pen or just rip off and shred the part containing the
information you wish to hide. The rest of the page can then be
placed out with your normal paper recycling.
- If you are a very keen shredder and would like to buy some
paper bags at a low price for recycling your shredded paper, try
visiting the
Bag N Box Man website.
Alternatively, you can use your shredded paper as packing material
for sending fragile items by post; some pets like to use it for
bedding; or you can place it in your
compost bin, if you have
one. | |
