Real Nappy Campaign

The Real Nappy Campaign

It's estimated that 4% of the UK's household waste is made up of disposable nappies. Disposable nappies use plastics and chemicals made from the worlds limited oil supply. Nappies take up valuable space in land fill sites and release methane gas as they start to break down, which contributes to global warming.

Real Nappies - the facts!

  • Real Nappies are funky and fashionable
  • Real Nappies use biodegradable liners that can be flushed down the toilet rather than ending up in land fill
  • Real Nappies come in different sizes, styles and patterns
  • Real Nappies are soft and gentle against babies skin
  • Real Nappies use mostly natural fabrics
  • Real Nappies are machine washable

Environmental Impact

  • Nearly 3 million nappies are thrown away in the UK every year
  • Disposable nappies may take hundreds of years to decompose
  • One baby's disposable nappy waste will fill 130 bin bags during his or her lifetime
How the campaign works

Telford & Wrekin is offering its residents £30 cash back to encourage local residents to use reusable nappies as an alternative to disposable nappies.
