The Council is looking into ways to reduce the amount of
waste that is sent to landfill in line with government policy. This
may include increasing the range of materials collected for
recycling from households and considering options to develop a new
treatment facility.
As part of this process the Council has put out an advert in the
Official Journal of the European Union seeking expressions of
interest from companies interested in the Council's residual
municipal waste treatment and disposal service contract.
