Borough of Telford & Wrekin

Woodside regeneration

A number of local, regional and national organisations have come together to respond to the issues that Woodside faces.
A Strategic Regeneration Framework was produced in 2003. Through this framework, the 10 year Regeneration Project seeks to physically transform Woodside and its surrounding area. It has the following themes;

Connecting Woodside
Creating a cohesive "urban village" with new and re-established connections to surrounding communities, including Madeley and the wider South Telford area.

Heart of the Estate
Developing a new local centre with quality retail uses and better designed public realm and open space. There will be opportunities for new housing in the local centre, including housing for older people.

Re-shaping Woodside
Housing areas will be re-designed to mitigate the effect of the Radburn layout of the estate. Limited demolition and new housing on infill sites will support this re-design work.

Wider Woodside
Identifying the opportunities for developing new housing sites and balancing these against the need to protect and enhance the quality of the green space within and beyond the estate.

The Woodside regeneration project is being delivered by a partnership of agencies, led by Transforming Telford for Telford & Wrekin Council.
