Educational psychology service |
| The Educational Psychology Service is provided through a
joint arrangement between the Borough of Telford & Wrekin and
Shropshire County
Council. | |
The principal aim of the service is to promote the
well-being, personal development and education of children and
young people by applying psychology. The service has three central
objectives:
- To promote individual and organisational
learning.
- To support inclusion.
- To support school improvement.
The service works through:
- consultation with staff in schools to promote effective
teaching, development and learning;
- helping children, their families and teachers through Inclusion
Support Project work;
- working with individuals and groups of children;
- multi-agency collaboration;
- Providing training for professional staff, voluntary groups,
parents and carers
- giving advice regarding needs and provision for individual
children with Special Educational Needs as part of the statutory
assessment process;
- support for early years, including the Portage Home Teaching
Service; and
- advice and support to schools and families in response to
critical incidents in the community.
