Borough of Telford & Wrekin

Equality and Diversity Statement

Adult & Consumer Care actively apply the Council's Equalities Policy and will aim to ensure our services are provided in a non-discriminatory way. We value and respect individuals regardless of ethnic origin, nationality, gender, sexuality, religion, disability or age.

We aim to celebrate the variety and richness of the people within our community. We value people's differences and respect the fact that backgrounds, experience and identity are a vital part of an individual's being. We will take strong action in response to language or behaviour that is offensive or discriminatory.

You will find information about our work on Equality and Diversity in our Summary of Equality and Diversity Action Plan which you can see from the link on the right.

Staff profile

Within the our areas of service 446 (59.6%) staff are employed full-time and 302 (40.3%) are part-time (including casual staff). This is lower than for the authority as a whole, where approximately 53% of staff work on a part-time basis.

Our workforce is made up of 17.1 % male and 82.8% female comparing to a 19% and 81% split across the authority.

There are 41 (5%) employees within the portfolio who are of a non-white ethnic origin. This number is reducing so under-representation of people from minority ethnic backgrounds remains an issue.

14 (1.9%) employees declared that they have a disability and is a slightly greater proportion than that for the authority as a whole which is 1.2%.
