There is an expectation that we will purchase quality
care; hence purchasing arrangements are only made with care
providers who have met certain standards. At present the Commission
for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) registers care homes and
domiciliary care agencies under a national registration scheme,
whilst the accreditation of day services is undertaken locally, by
the Council.
Registered Services & Star Ratings: Adult
& Community Care will only purchase care from registered or
accredited care providers.
To find out more about CSCI and local services that are
registered with CSCI, follow this link:
http://www.csci.org.uk
The CSCI webpage will also allow you to view the star ratings of
local services, as most registered care homes and domiciliary care
agencies have recently been assigned a star rating; from no stars
equating to poor, to 3 stars equating to excellent:

Accredited Services: All day services from
which we purchase must be accredited, the full list of accredited
day care providers can be accessed
