Low cost home
ownership
The council's Housing Options Team can advise you on a variety of
options which may be available to you if you are thinking of buying
your own home. These options include mortgages, low cost home
ownership and the Home Buy scheme.
What is low cost home ownership?
If your earnings are not high enough for a mortgage for the full
price of a suitable property, you may be able to purchase a home
under a low cost home ownership scheme. These schemes mean you can
buy a share in the property and pay rent on the part that you do
not own.
Purchasing a property that you are renting In
some cases you may be able to purchase the property that you are
currently renting, for example from a housing association. If you
are interested in doing this you should contact your
landlord.
How does the Home Buy scheme
work?
The Home Buy scheme helps people to buy a home on the open market
through a loan from a local housing association for 25% of the
purchase price.
For further information on how these schemes work, please contact
the Housing Options Team using the link on the right-hand side of
this
