Borough of Telford & Wrekin

Homelessness

If you are homeless, or think you are about to become homeless, we can offer you help and advice.
The first thing to do is to call our Helpline. For details of how to contact us, please see the link on the right-hand side of this page called 'How to contact the Housing Service' where you will find the Helpline number and also other ways to contact us.

Tell us about your problem and we will assess your situation and begin the process that will produce the best result for you. We may be able to prevent you becoming homeless or help you find somewhere else to live, so do give us a call - we're here to help.

We may have to ask you for lots of information about your situation but this is because we have to follow legal guidelines as set out in the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Act 2002.

You can find out more about the Government's approach to homelessness and what laws and guidelines they have made by following the link on the right-hand side of this page. This will take you to the Communities & Local Government web site where you can read more about it.

If you are homeless, there may be things that the council should do to help and assist you. The links on the right-hand side of the page will tell you more about this.
