homelessness | |
Q. How long will I be in temporary
accommodation?
A. If we need to provide you with temporary accommodation
under the homelessness law, we will try to offer you either a room
in one of our hostels or a property which we have leased from a
private landlord. If our hostels and other properties are full, we
will need to put you into bed and breakfast accommodation.
You will be given advice on housing by your Case Worker.
Some households are placed in temporary accommodation until we have
investigated why they are homeless - this is often called
'interim accommodation'. If we decide they are not homeless or not
in priority need (the legal definition applies), the stay in
temporary accommodation is much shorter and the applicant will be
moved out.
If we decide that you are homeless and in priority need, we
will provide you with temporary accommodation for as long as it
takes to find you permanent accommodation, unless you do something
that means you lose the temporary accommodation we have
provided.
Women admitted to a Refuge suffering domestic violence may stay
until rehoused, the same as other homeless people accepted for
permanent
rehousing. | |
