Improving homes

A home is the best investment most people make. However, if it is not maintained regularly, small items can become major expensive repairs.

The council offers the following services to help you:

Grants and Assistance
Under its Housing Renewal Policy the council offers a range of grants and assistance to home owners and these are targeted at helping vulnerable residents to improve the safety and quality of their homes and to ensure they are warm to live in.

You can make further enquiries about this assistance by contacting:-

01952 381876 (Woodside only)
or
01952 381855 (Borough-wide)

HOMEfix Handyperson Service
We offer a handyperson service to help you do small jobs around the house.

There is a small charge for the service but every handyperson is a Council employee and security checked for your peace of mind.

Priority is given to people over 65 years of age.

To make an appointment call the Home Improvement Agency on 01952 381855.

House Proud Scheme (available through the Home Improvement Trust)
The Home Improvement Trust is a not-for-profit organisation which works with Telford & Wrekin Council to raise awareness of and facilitate loan release options for older or disabled home owners.

This scheme provides an opportunity for older or disabled homeowners on lower incomes to release some equity value in their home to fund essential works. It can also fund other works to improve a property over and above basic fitness items, for example a new kitchen or bathroom.

The scheme is tried and tested and has the guarantee of 'no repossession'. For more details phone 01952 381855 or visit the Home Improvement Trust's own website using the link on the right hand side of this page
