Supporting People

Supporting People (SP) programme is committed to providing a better quality of life for older and vulnerable people to live more independently. It does this by funding the provision of housing-related support to prevent problems that often lead to hospitalisation, institutional care or homelessness, and can help the smooth transition to independent living for those people leaving an institutional setting such as prison.

Supporting People helps people:

  • gain and keep their independence
  • stay out of hospital or come home earlier
  • take part in social activities
  • become active in their community
  • reduce their need for medication
  • reduce/stop alcohol/drug abuse
  • stop committing crime
