When a Council is awarded 4 stars by the Audit Commission,
it means they are delivering excellent services to their residents.
Telford and Wrekin has been a 4 star Council for 5 years running,
thanks to the efforts of our great team of people, who don't take
no for an answer. We believe that whatever can be done, can always
be done even better. Whatever you choose to do here, you will be
supported and encouraged to succeed. So if you're a person who can
and does, we want to hear from you!
APPLYING FOR VACANCIES
Unless otherwise stated in the job advert either print off an
application form, complete it and return it to the address stated
in the advert. Where an email address has been provided, please
download an application form, complete it electronically and email
it to the address stated in the advert.
If you are requesting an application form and you leave an email
address we will endeavour to send your application pack by email if
this is not possible we will send in the post.
CV's
Curriculum Vitaes (CV's) are not accepted as a method of
application. This is because the completion of a standard
application form allows the Council to obtain a common set of core
data on which to assess applicants for the post in a fair manner.
It is also difficult to remove information within a CV which may
identify ethnicity, gender, age, etc. In addition we need to be
certain that all applicants provide us with the necessary
monitoring information we require under the Race Relations
(Amendement) Act 2000. CV's frequently do not contain this. If
applicants submit a CV with their application form, it will not be
submitted to the shortlisting panel.
Do you need help with your application? If so, send an e-mail to
this address: Job application
email address. Please do not send CVs to this e-mail
address as they are not accepted at present. A job
application form must be completed.
If you have any queries which are not covered above please contact
a member of the Recruitment team on 01952 383577
IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING REFERENCES
Where employees will be working with children or young people,
shortlisted applicants are advised that references will be taken
prior to interview even where permission has not been given
CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) vetting of
contract/supplier staff The CRB has access to
personal records held by the Police, the Department of Health, and
the Department for Education and Skills ensuring the best possible
scrutiny of applicants.
SINGLE STATUS In common with every Local
Authority Telford & Wrekin Council is currently undertaking a
job evaluation process for all posts under National Joint Council
conditions. This numbers around 4,000 including the position you
are applying for.
The review is aimed at achieving pay equality across the Council
and is scheduled to be completed in 2008.
The process has been a co-operative one and has been designed by
a joint working group of trade union representatives, managers,
human resource professionals and job analysts. As a result of the
exercise some job grades could change. Generally, most authorities
which have completed the exercise, have reported more staff
benefiting or remaining at the same salary level than experiencing
a reduction in pay. In such cases time-limited salary protection
schemes have been applied following local agreement.
We feel that the above is important information for you to be
aware of prior to making your application but would not want this
to deter you from continuing. We will be pleased to talk about this
in more detail with you if you wish. Please contact a member of the
Recruitment & Retention Team or Human Resources Advisory Team
if you wish to discuss this prior to making an application.
