Scheme (STARS) is a safe, suitable and enjoyable introduction to
physical activity for people who have health problems or do not
exercise
regularly. | |
Under the guidance of trained instructors people are
given advice, guidance and support on taking the first steps to
becoming more active.
Where can I take part in STARS?
The scheme operates at Madeley Court Sports Centre, Oakengates
Leisure Centre, Stirchley Recreation Centre and Wellington Civic
and Leisure Centre.
How do I get on the scheme? Your GP
or medical practitioner will refer you to one of our leisure
centres (based on preferences and availability) if they feel your
health could benefit from increasing your level of physical
activity.
What does the scheme involve?
- One-to-one consultation and induction
- 12 weeks of supervised physical activity
- Advice on incorporating physical activity into your everyday
life
What activities can I participate in? All
activities will be set at a level suitable for your current
capabilities.
What are the benefits of becoming more
active?

- Provide you with a sense of achievement
