Telford & Wrekin Sports Scholarship Scheme

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. All applicants will only be considered upon filling out the official application form available from the secretary.

2. Interviews with applicants may be required at the request of the committee.

3. Applicants must reside within the Borough of Telford & Wrekin, coaches who reside outside the boundaries may apply if a considerable amount of time is given to coaching sport within the Borough of Telford & Wrekin.

4. The fund is for high level achievers who represent their sport at District, County, Regional, national and International levels. In the case of the athlete where no Governing Body or representation exists, awards will be assessed on individual merits at the discretion of the committee.

5. All awards are discretionary and decisions made by the panel will be final.

6. All sports represented by applicants must be recognised by Sport England.

7. Grants are not retrospective.

8. Funding is to support expenses of participating or coaching, or to support Sports Coach (UK) approved educational courses.

9. The panel reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions when appropriate.

10. In exceptional circumstances, a prepayment of 50% of the total award may be forwarded to the recipients to assist short term need.

11. Coaches or Governing Body Representatives must sign applicants forms and complete a section stating the applicants standard and future prospects.

12. Forms without coaches or Governing Body signature will not be considered.

13. In the case of coaches, forms must be signed by a committee member of that representative club or Governing Body.

14. Where coaches have no formal Governing Body Coaching Qualification at present, but wish to gain accreditation, Borough of Telford & Wrekin may assist via the Coach Development Fund. Details are available from the Sports Development Unit.

15. Preference will be given to applicants who are not in full time work. People who have a main source of income may receive support if funds allow.
