Fitness Class Timetables

A wide range of fitness and aerobics classes to suit all ages and abilities are held at various leisure centres in the borough. Please use the links (on the right) for full details.

Fitness Class Descriptions.
These are generic descriptions, class content may vary dependant upon the instructor.

  • Ab Blaster: A class working on the mid section of the body, concentrating on balancing out posture, strengthening, toning and defining abdominal area.
  • Aerobics: Classic aerobics, a combination of high and low moves all to fun music. A great fat burner.
  • Aquafit : An excellent low impact aerobic workout and muscle conditioning session, with the added fun of being in water!
  • Body Basics: High/low impact aerobic workout, conditioning heart and lungs, followed by exercising for specific areas of the body.
  • Body Blast: A great all round high intensity circuit based workout using various peices of equipment.
  • Body Sculpture: Whole body strength and conditioning class, combining weight bars, dumb bells and floor work to challenge the body.
  • Boxercise: A high/low impact workout, promoting suppleness, agility, speed, strength and endurance.
  • Box To The Beat: A high energy full body workout, using a variety of boxing moves to music.
  • Circuits: A high energy, high impact workout that incorporates a wide variety of aerobic and resistance exercises, effective at improving fitness and body toning.
  • Cyclone: Beginners - cycle class building confidence, strength and cardio vascular fitness. Intermediate - motivating cylcle class - twist and turn through a mixed intensity workout.
  • Dance Aerobics: Aerobics with a funky twist. Have fun, get fit and move to the beat - the best fun you'll have all week.
  • Extend: A class for the less able, to improve mobility - keeping both the joints and the mind full of energy, with chair based alternatives.
  • Indoor Rowing: Group class for all levels of fitness. Ideal for those who are looking to improve cardio-vascular fitness and body strength. Rowing is a low impact exercise.
  • Kick Circuits: A great destressing cardio workout - a fun class including non contact kicking and punching moves.
  • Legs, Bums & Tums: Warm up and then tone, tone, tone! Exercises performed on specific muscle groups to tone the body.
  • Mature Mega Mix: A low impact class carried out at a gentler pace, perfect for beginners and over 50's.
  • Move & Grove: Have fun, get fit and dance yourself dizzy to the latest move and groove tunes. For age 11 - 15 year olds.
  • Pilates: A multi muscle workout concentrating on core strength, promoting flexibility and mobility.
  • Salsa: A mixture of salsa and aerobics which creates a fun, yet fulfilling, workout.
  • Spin 'n' Tone: An exciting class combining a variety of resistance equipment, Trixter bikes and aerobic exercises into an adrenalin filled class. Suitable for all abilities.
  • Stability Ball: A low impact workout wihich improves core stability by utilising a stability ball.
  • Step: High/low combination moves on the box. An excellent way to burn off those unwanted calories.
  • Step 'n' Tone: This class offers a combination of step aerobics followed by an all over body tone to reach those problem areas.
  • Tai Chi: A gentle form of exercise which relaxes the body and relieves stress, encourages a good posture and breathing techniques.
  • Tone 'n' Trim: A class designed to tone and trim all those problem areas.
  • Why Weight: A low impact aerobice class and a low cost slimming club designed for people who need practical guidance and support to lose weight.
  • Yoga: Improves flexibility, strength and posture and relaxation and is suitable for all fitness levels.
